Daily Musings — 28th March 2017
On my journey into University, I saw a sticker on The Tube advertising the carriage as a “Daily Mail Free Zone”.
I’m tired of this, stop this censoring. If you will not give free speech to people you don’t like, why do you deserve it?
How many times have I said politics is about compromise? Compromise comes through debate. Censoring doesn’t lead to debate. It’s why our political system has become partisan and broken.
So, today, I spent some time on my own as my early morning plans were cancelled at late notice.
During my time I realised there’d been another case of mistaken identity in my musings. Which again, is starting to annoy my friend.
I will from now try to refrain from talking about them, though sometimes it’s too good not to use material. They give me good points and funny stories, what do you guys think?
Marine A is set to be freed after an appeal. But I can never understand the thought process of the marines on that day in Helmand. Which is why it’s important — that trials are conducted in a court of peers. A court of Marine A’s peers would include servicemen, only they would understand.
Rationality can go out of the window in war situations, just how is something that members of the public just will not understand.
It would far better serve justice if crimes involving servicemen in times of conflict is juried by servicemen who in a better position to judge what is a reasonable response in that situation.
