Today I saw Logan.

It was pretty emotional.

I won’t give away spoilers, but it was a fitting ending for Jackman and Stewart in their final X-Men films. Indeed, the acting from every actor and actress was superb. It had a couple of good moments, such as Dr X’s attempts to speak Spanish to Laura. Charles also gave us the quote of the century. “Why don’t you be like the rest of the world and blame someone else for your boring sh*t”.

Also, I just noticed Bruce Wayne (Batman) and Arthur Curry (Aquaman) both have fathers named Thomas. Bit like Martha(If you know, you know).

Marvel don’t have any weird coincidental nonsense that ruins the film like that. Which is why I prefer them. I do like DC but they can be really silly at times. I can do a whole article about the absurdity of Suicide Squad.

I was going to a Fake News event but my friend had to buy some stuff, so I went with him. I took him to Victoria — because I know a good joke card shop. Unfortunately, we were late, which was hilarious. Well for me and not for him. Still he got his card and we had some banter. I’d like to publicly apologise for getting the opening times wrong.

I love visiting Victoria. Westminster Cathedral is beautiful. There’s good food in the station and on the street, plus on the high street, there’s a grassy ledge, where you can sit, eat and talk. It’s quite lovely.

This day in 1969 saw the retirement of baseball legend, Mickey Mantle. Mantle spent his entire career at the New York Yankees. Mantle was perhaps the greatest offensive player that the MLB has ever seen. Sadly, in 1995, he passed away having struggled with alcoholism. Fourty eight years on from his retirement, he still holds a host of records in the World Series. most home runs, RBIs, extra-base hits, runs, walks, and total bases.

The Yankees have not seen a player like him since his retirement. The Yankees failed to qualify for the World Series in 2016. Joe Girardi has been criticised by fans, but if you look at the players at their disposal, the team cannot compete with the best teams anymore. Girardi did lead the team to their most recent World Series in 2009 so, given the right investment and players, the Yankees should be able to compete again. They should be able to produce new legends on the same level as the likes of Mantle, DiMaggio, Berra, Gossage, Ruth and Gehrig, to inspire a new generation of young fans in the six boroughs.
